Cupids Arrow edge to edge is here! I love quilting on my Janome QMP20 longarm and using edge to edge designs (also known as “pantographs”) can make quilting go by so fast. I recently started creating some of my own designs to be quilting on the longarm, using the robotics on the Janome QMP, and I have a really fun one to share with you!
And the Cupid’s Arrow design is great for creating a modern, even texture. The quilting is evenly distributed throughought the design and there is no backtracking, or difficult alignment when repositioning the rows, which makes it a great beginner design to quilt. No backtracking means that the quilting is even and in one direction. The needle will not backtrack on an already quilted line of quilting, so you get even quilting that isn’t overly thick in some areas and just one line in others.
Additionally, I love using Glide thread to quilt out these designs, as there is easy tension adjustment and Cupid’s Arrow quilts up beautifully in a variety of different sizes. Quilting, especially when doing free motion by hand, can take a really long time. Using an edge-to-edge pantograph can cut your work load considerably and get the job done in no time.

Next, default sizing for the Cupids Arrow edge to edge is with a height of 13″, width of 10″, and gap of -3″. This will make for a fairly low density quilting pattern and will leave your quilt soft and drapey. For quilters who prefer a little denser quilting, I’ve tested out the sizing and spacing for several other sizes and offer the following recommendations for size adjustments:
And for a slightly denser pattern, use height 10″, gap-2.25″
For mid density, use height 8″, gap -1.75″
And for a denser pattern, use height 6″, gap -1.25″
To use this pantograph on the Janome QMP20 with ProStitcher, you need to get a download with the file format ending in HQF. Load the new design onto a USB and resize it as desired, using the sizing suggestions that I’ve listed above.
Finally, you can get your digital copy of Cupid’s Arrow here! I’d be honored if you’d tag me with your quilts quilted with this design by using @kustomkwilts and #Kustomkwiltspantos
Cheers!
